DASH CLUBS

The Girl Talk club mentors girls on topics like personal hygiene, etiquette, self-awareness, self-esteem, self-respect, and women's voice. We also discuss goals and aspirations and are open to other topics that interest or concern the girls. Our conversations are honest and age-appropriate, with the aim of guiding the girls to become informed, strong, respectful, and respected young women in today's challenging world. Confidentiality is important when students share privately, but we encourage them to share topics at home so that discussions can continue while keeping parents informed.

Our students will have the opportunity to learn how to produce an audio podcast from start to finish through hands-on experience. They will work in small groups to create and publish original podcasts about topics that interest them, design cover art, and develop and execute a marketing plan. DASH's Podcast Club is an excellent platform for our students to express their ideas and opinions in an engaging and innovative manner, while also improving their interviewing, writing, and media literacy skills, and exploring various subjects.

DASH Kitchen Crusaders is a 10-week culinary arts program that teaches essential cooking skills to a select group of students in grades 5-12. These skills include kitchen safety, food preparation, flavor combinations, baking techniques, and plating. The program is designed to help students develop their own culinary skills and create visually appealing dishes.

Students in this creative arts club will explore various aspects of the art world. We'll focus on design projects, fostering creativity, and trying new things. We'll encourage using imagination, planning, and accepting constructive criticism, as well as giving feedback to others. Participants will learn about elements of art and design, including line, shape/form, space, value, color, and texture, and principles of balance, pattern, contrast, and movement. We'll use NYC Arts on PBS as a resource and source of inspiration. Students will display their finished projects and artwork on social media and the website. Upon completion of the program, we'll hold an art show and recognition ceremony.

Boys2Men is very a cool club! It's all about helping young boys grow up to be awesome young men. They talk about important stuff like how to take care of themselves, being polite, and feeling good about who they are. Our mentors are kind and really want to help the boys be their best selves. And even though they keep everything private, they encourage the boys to share what they've learned with their parents at home. That way, everyone can keep talking about the same things and make sure the boys keep growing up strong and confident.

Tech Time offers students access to a range of devices for various tasks such as projects, creative writing, and using school-approved websites. Facilitators teach software programs like Word and Excel, as well as file creation and slideshow skills for educational development. Games are permitted within school guidelines.

An assortment of board games and card games will be available for the students. All students will listen to the instructions and game rules for each game that is introduced to the group. Once there is a complete understanding of the games the students will select the game of their choice and spread out to play together. The students are expected to finish playing the selected game before moving on to different game.

Enhancing your creativity in writing can be a fulfilling experience, especially when you're part of a Book Writing Club. With guidance on grammar, punctuation, and spelling, you can confidently write and share your work with fellow members. Constructive feedback can help you improve your craft. Imagine the possibility of having your written pieces published in a book alongside other talented writers.

Students work together in groups to create and perform multiple dance routines to different popular music styles.

This club offers a variety of games that cater to the interests and preferences of students. These games may include board games, card games, group games, physical or mental challenges, and can be played both indoors and outdoors. It is expected that students will pay close attention to the instructions and rules of each game being taught or played. Good sportsmanship is a must, as is taking proper care of the games, pieces, and equipment. A positive and encouraging attitude towards fellow players, as well as a willingness to give their best effort, is always expected.

As the students enjoy playing air hockey, foosball, basketball, and Xbox games, they are carefully following the rules of each game and taking responsibility for the equipment. They're also learning to be patient while waiting for their turns, supporting and cheering on their friends, playing fairly, and keeping track of scores. Additionally, older students are providing guidance and mentoring to younger ones, ensuring they understand what is expected of them while playing these games. Most importantly, the students are having a wonderful time!
